bullet  Reclaimed Cast Steel Letterbox

back one page
go to the beginning of category: Letterboxes
This letterbox/letterplate appears to be cast in steel. Why would you do this? Well it seems that at some time in its past life it was gilded. When we stripped of the (later) gold painted finish we found unmistakable fragments of gold leaf. This item has been stripped and cleaned and then chemically blackened (no toxic residue) following which it has been coated with our own blend of oils and waxes. Some very minor surface character. Supplied complete with new springs, spindle and securing studs suitable for up to 7 cm thick doors. Longer studs available on request.
